Pavlov is my friend
Jun. 20th, 2006 05:13 pmThanks to Java knowing which 2 rugs are His, All His, All The Time, he brings his spoils there, THEN hollers for others to join the fun, instead of bringing them to me. In Bed. HOO-RAY for that. Last night's wood rat at 3:15 AM wasn't so bad. They're both on the rug? Drag it all outside through the French door then lock the cat window. I shrieked when I found ratty bits on the doormat outside the French door this AM though. Last I saw Java and his carcass, they were on the other side of the garden. I'd looked for remains earlier and figured an oppossum or raccoon cleaned up the remains. AKK, WRONG.
I love the wildlife in my neighborhood. We've got mockingbirds. Oh wow, they are AMAZING. They sing at night, they sing during the day, they go on and on. Then on and on. I love them! Among other sounds and songs, they've incorporated the whistle I use to call the cats into their repertoire, and it's such fun to hear it come back to me.
I haven't seen or heard the raccoons in ages. Someone comes by for a drink at night, either the local skunk or an opposum, but I hear its lapping when I'm too sleepy to leap out of bed to try to see what it is.
The neighbor behind me cut down everything on his property ::shudder:: so now he's peering in my windows. He also removed a little glade where the deer hung out. They've come back, though, in ones rather than twos and threes. Hooray for Advantage and blue-belled lizards, so Lyme disease is not such a concern. Ah, yes; we've had 2 lizards in the house this season so far. 1 easily caught and removed outside, the other quite dead, on the rug, of course.
