May. 10th, 2006 02:03 pmThe part of my back that I didn't think about putting sunscreen on because I originally was going for short swim? the swim that turned into a 45 to 60 minute swim plus 30 to 45 minute walk back, oh, during the hottest part of the day? very VERY sunburned. It hurts like mad, and the boys left yesterday, so I am having to be very nimble putting calendula gel on it. Call me Gumby.
I am quite bored and wish I were at home or at work. The sister is, well, quasi-possessed and being sort of mean, so I am staying away from her as much as possible. I am reading: started & finished Garlic and Sapphires yesterday, and started Pam Houston's new book (whee! apostrophe found!) a little while ago.
I'm watching birds. There is an interesting kind of black bird here. In places where fresh water runs into the ocean, it acts quite like a shore bird, running into the water, pecking stuff out of the sand, running back to avoid getting wet. They have quite a loud cry, too. There are a ton of pigeons roosting in the palm trees around the square. Found a poster for an environmental ed-bird watching walk that took place about 3 weeks ago. Darn, I'd love to do something like that.
