May. 13th, 2006 12:11 pmSomeone stole my Teva's from the beach. My ONLY Tevas. ARGHHHHH!!!!!! ::stabby::´Sis has loaned me some similar shoes that fit okay, thank dog. I could not get by wearing flip-flops all day-night.
I love being able to program my Tivo through MyYahoo.
The jellyfish stings wax and wane in itchiness. At their worst, about twice a day, it's like having poison oak that won't go away. At least it doesn't spread. Saw a dead jelly on the beach and it was a gorgeous purple. Someone said Portugese man of war. I'll google later.
Notes on places to stay:
Casa Campana (Campada?) = Cheryl and Richard's place over the fishing boats, south beach. Love the place.
Enrique-designed hotels on north beach, beautiful, if a little expensive: Los Hamacos and Los Delfines. SCREENS!!! Similar idea, in between the two: Casablancas.
The place I am in last night and tonight is the best bargain around. $50 night, on beach, GREAT view and sea breeze, kitchen, huge patio, great place for socializing. King bed. Lack of screens not so bad, I slept with doors, windows open.
Except for Enriques' hotels, even the brand new architect-designed place I used for free earlier in week, most trendy houses are designed without screens. To read at night & sleep with windows & doors open (where doors can be safely left open), to A) get the sea breeze and B) hear the ocean, you C) have to put insect repellant on so mosquitoes don't eat you alive. CRAZY. At new expensive home, I had to close and lock all of them (so someone could not easily hop inside while I slept), then turn a fan on so I would not steam and expire during the night. A fan is not what I want to listen to at night. In places with trade winds,ocean breezes, does it not make sense to USE it? Yeesh. Oh, and pigeons are starting to nest in the open to outside shower. I had to shoo them out every AM. These poor people, haven't even lived there yet. WHAT were they thinking?
Most made-in-Mexico chairs are hideously uncomfortable. Choco Banana not only has a great location on the square, some ocean breeze wafting up the street, and good food & coffee, it has really comfortable chairs. Brown Jordan's, some of them, others, dunno, but yay for them.
