Book

I love my book group. It's really a dinner and discussion group, since there's no need to actually read the book to participate. In most instances, one person has read the book by the meeting about it (the person who picked it), but eventually most people get around to reading the book and discussions take place on the fly. It works.

I started The Time Traveler's Wife on Monday after last Friday's meeting about it. At dinner, two people were part-way, and one person had read it. The part-way people thought it was hard to get into, but once into it, they were really into it. The one who recc'd it and read it, loved it from the get-go.

I picked it up while out at the beach house on Monday, and read at every opportunity until I was done with it by Tuesday afternoon. I *loved* it. It isn't hard to get into at all, IMHO, because you immediately are told that one of the main characters is time traveling. It's pretty obvious what's going on from then out, I think. It's a tender, sweet, relationship story set in Chicago about enduring love through time & changes. Highly recommended.

I'm nearly done with The End of Nature on books on tape. Those are 30 and 31 for my 50 in 2005. Aug. 6/7 is the 31st week of the year, so I'm still on track, but without a lead.
