She never forgets that she's on radio, and that people tune in pretty much randomly. Therefore, she regularly mentions who her guest is. Then, she just plain rocks with the best voice & questions.

A local public radio station's program manager has a weekly call-in show to ask listeners for feedback about the station. I listened for 25 minutes and NOT ONCE did she say the call-in phone number or what her name is. Unbelievable.

Wildlife Report:

There was a skink (aka blue-bellied lizard) inside the paper recycling bag. I'm glad it found a place to hide from Java. Bonus: it was easy to carry it out of the house. This was a new skink, not the stove skink, and solved the mystery of why two throw rugs were scrunched up a day or two before, with a smear of blood on the floor next to one of them. At the time, I'd looked for a dead small critter body, not found one, shrugged, straightened the rugs.

My Australian houseguests are thrilled about the deer. Yesterday, one was in the yard about 6 feet away from them. Yup, it's wild kingdom in my city. Good thing I have skinks - there are probably lots of deer ticks to eat.

An opossum was up the plum tree Monday night, and the houseguests said an animal was walking around on the roof either Wed. or last night. Good thing I warned them this happens.
