Jun. 15th, 2005 06:23 pmBook notes: still loving Bill McKibben's Wandering Home. It's a small, slim book; I like how neatly it fits in my hand when I'm carrying it down the street to lunch. If I ruled the world, everyone would have to read this book. The guy is a wonderful writer - he used to write The Talk of the Town for the New Yorker. It's not a polemic. I'd think that it would convert the non-environmentalists to the fold, and if I'm at all representative of environmentalists, well, I love it.
I keep thinking about Never Let Me Go. (Please don't read spoilers herein if you haven't read the book and think you will one day.) ( Read more... )
Work is really busy, the entire corporate culture has indeed changed IMHO, billable hours can just bite me, doing social stuff after work is of the good, getting awards is of the good, and visiting Chez Bead (of Katerina Bead) is very, very fun. Also, I have no idea if the skink is still in house or not. I haven't seen it in a couple of days, so I'm hoping my removal of window screens and creation of a ramp up to a rough dishtowel hanging up and over the windowsill, through which wafts fresh bright clean air, lured it back outside. However, I found a strange tiny poo next to the dryer and am hoping that it isn't skink poo. I shall have to find a book that IDs reptile scat.
