Jun. 13th, 2005 01:49 pmI saw Crash last night. This is today's quote from the Zen quote-of-the-day calendar, and it applies to the movie nicely:
As far as Buddha Nature is concerned, there is no difference between a sinner and a sage. . . . One enlightened thought and one is a Buddha, one foolish thought and one is again an ordinary person.
HUI-NENG
I'd argue that Crash depicts enlightened thought and hideously-wrong-actions, but it's still a graphic depiction of the duality of human nature.
Books:
I'm loving Billl McKibben's "Wandering Home," and think I'll check out more of his works. I finished Brick Road, and am working my way through the latest Mme. Ramostwe book, The Full Cupboard of Life. Those are my 24, 25 and 26th books this year so far. I keep thinking I missed a couple of books read during the end of Dec./beginning of Jan. but oh well unless/until I remember what they are.
