Jun. 20th, 2005 10:58 amNote to self: What is meant by "stretching after exercise," in this case, a 6-mile walk, is NOT: hauling up/down stairs very large plants in very large pots and loading/unloading them from a car after transporting them several miles, followed by 5 straight hours of hunched-over weed pulling and stooped flower dead-heading, followed by car washing & vacuuming. ::ouch:: OTOH, productive weekend = yay!
I finished "Wandering Home" on Friday and "In the Company of Cheerful Ladies" this morning. Cheerful Ladies gave me allergies at the end. The reader, Lisette Lecat, is one of the best. I enjoy the calm and, hmmm, essential goodness of this series of books. I might have to try listening to "Full Cupboard" again now that I know which major character changes/developments I missed "seeing" happen by skipping it.
IMHO "Wandering Home" is a modern classic, an exhilerating and entertaining read. Everyone should read it for the succint and entertainingly chatty discussions of the major environmental issues of our day that read like listening to your favorite raconteur while walking over a mountain with him. It's a lovely book.
