A former co-worker died yesterday afternoon. She'd developed undiagnosed lung problems ("virus"), was put on the lung transplant list in Jan., got one new lung in Feb., and it failed last week, taking her along with it. Her family authorized unhooking her from life support at 2 PM and she died at 4:30. She turned 56 on June 10th. Rest in peace, Phyllis Walker.

56 is way too young to die. It's another weird random ailment that struck someone - bad things do happen for no particular reason and it sucks (the lung problem in the first place, I mean.) I liked her, saw her now & then, and talked to her after the transplant but that's it. Other co-workers and I talked about sending her something or visiting, and figured there would be more time. Argh.

I'm leaving for San Juan Island tomorrow, and have been really focused at work. It's amazing how much gets done when I'm focused. I should travel more often, since that seems to bring things into focus for me. Back to work.
