More house stuff
Sep. 4th, 2003 11:47 amThe flaky electrician didn't show up, big surprise. I'm trying a slightly new tactic, starting this AM. I hope it works.
The chimney sweep turned out to be really nice. My chimney is in good shape, not to worry earthquake-wise. Yay! According to him, I need to re-mortar a couple of places and get a new damper, though. Maybe I'll get a wood burning stove and do something with the cheap red-concrete fake brick that I loathe, face it with slate and get John the cabinetmaker to make an oak mantel. That would be sweet. Except for the paying for it. Fares dropped yesterday in the SFO-Honolulu market and I found one that'd work over Tgiving for ~$340. Only, maybe I should stay home and put the $$ into the house.
