I am so stoked to have found this organization,  http://www.unmarriedamerica.org/main.htm

Unmarried America engages in education and advocacy for America's 86 million unmarried  adults.  Our group includes people who are ever-single, divorced, or widowed, and who have a variety of living arrangements (solo singles, single parents, domestic partners, roommates, and unmarried families).  We are seeking fairness for unmarried employees, consumers, and taxpayers as well as more recognition of unmarried voters.  You can become a member of Unmarried America by making a tax-deductible donation of $10 or more.  Join today!

It's something I've been wishing existed for a long time and had mad fantasies of starting, if I ruled the world. Back in the day when I was a POSSLQ, it annoyed me that there was this underlying presumption in business and government that marrieds got  certain benefits that singles weren't to get. As our generation ages, though, there are more and more singles, and I'm glad that there's a venue for a greater political voice. I know more single people than I do marrieds, which is highly unscientific, but the article where I read about this org says,

Although their ranks (3,500 members, soon to be 3501) are no match for the clout carried by the AARP's  35 million members, census stats hint at singles' hidden potential: 86 million Americans, nearly 40% of adults, are single, and in 300 cities a majority of households are headed by an unmarried adult. "Singles are percieved as losers, someone who is lonely and defective. We're out to change that," Coleman said.

RIGHT THE HECK ON!
