Death Cab for Cutie Concert, bike

javacatThe heat finally broke yesterday YAY, good grief it was horrid having near-and-into-triple-digit days in thehome county. Thanks to insulation, I could seal up the house at 5 AM to keep it no hotter than 85 inside, but UGH.
Yesterday was great! Berkeley was an early stop on Death Cab for Cutie's Narrow Stairs tour. Tickets were selling, like, $20 under face value. How could I not go? I went early to wander around north gate, through campus (such changes! so many groves of trees gone! Shattuck/Univ. & back. I wasn't super early, but scored a fabulous seat at the Greek Theater parallel to the sound board but center. The concert was wonderful. They opened with I Will Possess Your Heart,
Got up early this morning and rode my bike to Fairfax/Deer Park, back to San Anselmo, over to Ross, then Kentfield, and grabbed some eggs for breakfast near Marin General. It's the first time since I bought the used bike that I used the lock. I'd carefully written down the combination and stowed it away before leaving the house, only, DER, it was the combination to a different lock that I've also never used. I walked from Kentfield/Greenbrae back home to San Rafael., got the right combination, and drove back to get my bike. Good exercise, and it didn't take long at all.

then played non-stop for hours. Everyone sat down to listen to the concert, which meant everyone could see the stage, yay. The band is so excellent and tight, Ben Gibbard is a genius, they just played non-stop with very little chat. oh swoon! (The sound on that is terrible as it crescendos but at least the filmer isn't singing along. IMHO earplugs are essential for concert enjoyment. I can't hear actual music without them.
