Today is the beginning of week 3 of retirement. Last week felt like the first week of retirement in that I worked until 3 AM the Monday after the Friday that I retired, then spent the rest of the week getting ready to host my own retirement party. (The office retirement party was last week, and was terrific, and I go back this Wed. to receive an honorary resolution of appreciation from the governing board. Cool!) We played bocce ball for 2 hours, then moved to the park nearby shortly after noon for a BBQ. I was surprised and pleased by some of the attendees, and my favorite and reliable best friends came also. It was great fun, C&M helped me haul everything for the BBQ up to the deck off my kitchen afterwards, which is often the most onerous part of a party, and the next two days felt like the first weekend I'd had in about 2 months.  Getting ready for that party and hauling the 30 years worth of stuff from my office around was super tiring!

The College of Marin pool is open, and if I'm not riding my bike, I'm lap swimming every afternoon. MAN I am rather sore in a good way, going from exercising for sure once a week to exercising for sure once a day.  I will increase this as time goes on, maybe shoot for another walking related goal, like a half marathon or walking in 5 Ks on weekend or something.  Meanwhile, OMG it is so beautiful at the CoM pool.  Swim then look up at Mt. Tam in the perfect temperature blue skies.

I still like the idea of moving around, living somewhere different for a year, then another place -- but man am I lucky to live here already.  I was thinking about summer weather in particular, wondering where was the PERFECT place to spend a summer. It's here, right in Marin. When SF and Oakland/Berkeley are socked in thick with fog, it is 75 degrees here and sunny all day long. I love it.  It's a little too hot here when it's perfect in SF but luckily, it's mostly cold in SF in summer.

My mother is definitely declining. I see her every day or talk to her every day but I need to really buckle down and start going over there every day and get everything in order  Sister C The Bitch has basically indicated that she will sue me over my mother's distribution of her estate (good grief, this sister is such a PITA) so Mom and I agreed to meet with a diff attorney, one who will litigate if necessary, to re-do her will. Her current atty. makes it plain that she won't litigate under any circumstances.

Off to an art show reception and a movie with a couple of friends. I love being retired!
