Liliboo Beach on the right
Dec. 6th, 2008 09:20 pmI made it to Mexico. I was up all night and went straight to the Airporter, between working really late, "quality time" with the black cat* and the kittens (good grief, they are a time suck), packing, having to drive back to the office (3 to 4 AM) to retrieve documents I'd set down to pluck my boarding pass from the printer-ARGH. 45 mins sleep on the Airporter and 2.5 hrs. on the plane were surprisingly refreshing. 12 hrs. in zonkland that night restored me, as did a nice cold beer and a swim in the warm Pacific. I'm in Sayulita, Mexico. We went to Punta Mita a couple of days ago, and there really is a Liliboo Beach over that way.
The sibling and I have had our frisson moments here and there. She is, sensibly, taking me around to meet with principals re the property here. We are both so sick of all of this financial woe. It looks like the entire financial world is tanking, coincidentally right behind my sis, so in a weird way, I feel like we are ahead of the game.
One nice thing is that my work industry is solid, and will continue to be so. So as long as I can continue to hang on there, I'll be okay. I have no doubt that I'll whinge from time to time about how very very much I would like to have a sabbatical, but when you feel lucky to have a good job in such a crappy fiscal time, it'll hold.
I have missed so much tv it's absurd. I have a guy who is helping me with my shows, and I finally sent my Tivo off for repair, so yay, maybe I'll get all that stuff done before long.
*The black cat hates the kittens. He is somewhat insulated from them because I can "airlock" the two bedrooms from each other, but after a week, he became aware that they are there. Volunteers from The Cat Connection come to work with them every day (or I would not be doing this fostering) and he gets attention but now knows it's not all about him. Anyway, at one point, he ran down into the garage. I went down about an hour later, and he was just sitting there, in the middle of the floor, in the dark, being huffy by himself. I had to goose him upstairs. He knows about suitcases.
Amy Poehler is KILLING on SNL. Check it out.
