Wild Kingdom, Part IX
Aug. 26th, 2008 06:15 pmAfter a lovely evening out in SF, upon heading to my bedroom, I found smears of dried blood on the hardwood floor and a small oblong object on the floor. Heart of a wood rat? gizzard of a large bird? Removal and inspection determined that it was the head of a small lizard. Would that I could know for certain if it's a fresh lizard or the one that ran under my bed months ago that drove me to dissemble my bedroom and sleep on the couch for 2 weeks... that I never found.
Something with a fuzzy tail tried to get in through the cat flap around 3 or 4 AM. Not enough moonlight to see what it was. My neighborhood's cat's cornea was punctured (ouch) probably in a cat fight, the vet says. Java sustained bite wounds a few days earlier and it could not have been the neighbor's cat, as he was inside at the time. It appears there's a new bully cat in the neighborhood. Great, just what we need.
Wild turkeys seem to overtaking Marin, though we haven't had any in our neighborhood yet.
