Crows

Someone ran over one of my neighborhood crows! It's a crow I knew and liked. Its mate and relative were flying around calling for it. (There are, or were, 3 crows - a big one, probably male, and two smaller ones, probably the mate and one of their daughters, or a sister.)   Someone threw the body under a tree, so I went down with a shovel and brought it back to my house, and put it up at the top of the hill, where the birds could see it.  If you were a bird, wouldn't you want to know your mate was dead, instead of just missing?  I hope the remaining birds don't think I killed its mate/father/sister/whatever, but I felt it was the right  move.  What kind of bastard runs over a crow?  It looks like it was on the road, and someone gunned it and ran it over. 

I had a nice birthday yesterday otherwise.
