Moth Orchids
Nov. 9th, 2007 04:07 pmI'm not doing well on my listing 3 positive things a day. I'm here to crab about moth orchids. I've been given two, can't/won't toss them out on principle, and am bored by them unlike any other plant. True, most plants also just sit there, but moth orchids do it in an irritating way, with four measly leaves forever, and green roots that shoot out, groping their crooked way around the pot, then turn brown and die. The oldest leaf is starting to wrinkle the way my grandmother's hands wrinkled; still working but clearly on to another stage of life. I might have to find it a new home and come up with some story about it if the coworker who gave it to me asks about it. Luckily, I know someone who takes in stray orchids.
SF-ites, a bunch of museums around Yerba Buena are open for free tomorrow. Cool!
