I had a gaggle of friends and neighbors over last night after work to watch The Daily Show coverage of the Dem Convention. The Daily Show is new to me. Jon Stewart is a genius. Love that show! S brought a tape of Obama's speech so we watched that, too. That man is So charismatic and eloquent! Wow. WOW. Obama and Hillary on a ticket? Could it ever happen?
Anyway, my kind of party consists of people knowing to expect to help out when they arrive, all is very casual, and they're always potlucks, me not being a cooking type of person. My friends know I can't do them otherwise and accept that about me, thank dog; I crack under party performance pressure. It was a lot of fun. My new roommate has been a friend for years and is pretty social. I could see doing these more often, maybe a game and puzzle night next time.
I know the b.org'ers will find this very amusing: most of my RL friends think I'm some sort of a computer genius because I own and manage a bunch of yahoogroup lists, can tell them about tinyurl and debunk things via urban legends or snopes, and have a tivo. Demo'ing the Tivo was fun. I'm still learning how to use it. 3 of the Dem. Conv. Daily Shows I wanted to show were gone, drat!
I had about 20 minutes after getting home to scoop up my junk and stash it away. One of the genius things about Clean Sweep is that they remove the people's stuff from the context of the rooms where it's been living for years. Once it's in their clean primary-colored baskets, it's easier to sort and let go of things. I'm going to try hauling my stuff out on the deck and see if it works for me.
