When I vacation, I travel. On weekends, I travel, if I have a place to go. Two co-workers are taking a month's vacation and staying home. A good friend retired early. I'm a little envious of them. I might try it, maybe as much as a week. It could be fun to spend more than 1-3 days in my house and home town. Dunno. I've never done it, except when sick.

See, my definition of happiness has always been "leaving home," even my own house, which I rarely call "my home." The house is (1) a good investment, (2) a place to sleep between work days or travels, (3) an obligation to keep from falling apart. I like having a home so that I can leave it - *that's* bliss.

Although it is a home to my cats, and I am committed to them. With Ben's newly diagnosed illness, I will have to be careful about leaving for long periods. He won't show his face to others, so forget medication while I'm gone. If I'm going to spend more time there, maybe it could be more - I don't know what words I want. Coordinated? pleasant? workable? organized? good looking? comfortable? Yup, all those.

So, it might be possible to enjoy the house as a home. Maybe. I took note of msbelle's good remarks about Clean Sweep and started Tivoing/watching it. I like the show. Thanks msbelle! They aren't snotty or mean, but are actually helpful. I'm starting to get the idea that I, too, could get rid of some of my junk. There might be other possibilites after that.

On Sat., I went to a play in Bodega with G, then overnight'd at Dillon Beach. Sun. there was a cat fight across the way, which wakes me instantly, cat mother of male cats that I am. I ran out to break it up and so, for the first time out at that beach house, I achieved my goal of awaking at dawn and walking on the beach. It was fabulous. G was still asleep when I got back, so I read "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim" (making me laugh and cry) until I fell asleep again. On the way back, G & I went bananas at the Mostly Natives nursery in Tomales. I'm going to have to start going home after work instead of reading on-line to get more gardening and other house-y stuff done. Sun. night, party at a neighbor's house. I'm spreading the word about Tivo and The Daily Show, it seems.
I watched the season finale of Joan of Arcadia two weekends ago. Yikes. I wonder where they're going with Joan's visions, with the parents having their own as she loses hers. Also, I felt her loss - good acting, good writing.

I also watched the last few episodes & finale of "24." (I still haven't seen the last 6 eps from the year before, which I still have on tape). I can't believe they shot Sherry! I hate that they've apparently squeezed out Tony and Michele. I, for one, really value ensembles that act/are paid/stick together like ensembles. They could so totally pardon Tony and bring him back.

I still haven't watched the next to last and last episode of Angel.
