Friday Five
Aug. 1st, 2003 12:52 pm1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings?
Around 3 AM for a few minutes when Ben has to go out. Around 5 AM for a few minutes when Java has to either go out or come in. The alarm goes off at 7 and either I bound out of bed and get stuff done around the house before I go to work, or I hit the snooze button until 8. Rarely, a meowing cat has awakened me after my alarm has rung/played for an hour without my hearing it.
2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late?
I used to, but I seem to wake up early anymore (anytime from 6:30 to 8:30). 9 is about the latest I can sleep. I don't set an alarm on weekends unless I'm meeting someone for a hike or whatever, so rarely I'll sleep until 10 or 11.
3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning?
Pet a cat, if one is in arm's reach. Listen to NPR. Turn off NPR and turn on the TV weather.
4. How long does it take to get ready for your day?
In theory, 15 minutes. In practice, 1 to 1.5 hours - I'm fixing things around the house, doing laundry, feeding cats, cleaning up after the cats, showering, hanging laundry on the clothesline, watering plants, etc. etc.
5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast?
Special occasions or weekends? The Half Day Cafe in Kentfield, though I haven't been there in a while. I make a pretty darn good weekend breakfast [tempeh bacon, scrambled eggs w/ cheese, toast, fresh grapefruit juice], so it's rare that I go out for one. I don't eat breakfast during the week usually, or if I do, it's a banana or toast with cruncy almond butter that I eat while I commute.
