Melissa Rosenberg, writer and co-executive producer on the Showtime's Dexter, talks about Season 3. Spoilery for Season 2.
Not spoilery: The show is projected to have a lifespan of 5 years. And, "We've been meeting for a month now for the third season and it's been like, 'What the hell are we going to do now?'" she says. "But I think we've come up with something that's going to be hopefully as good. I can't even hope to surpass it, but I can hope to do as well. It's going to be tough. But it's a challenge." She does not go on to specifics.

Book review. (This 3rd book in the series goes off into a world pretty separate from the TV series; I think the TV series is stronger/more interesting, and that the resolution of book 3 was "you've got to be kidding" eyeroll-worthy.)
