(need ep titles)
Lundy: I'm a fed. My suit proves it.
Roger: My kids just love Spongebob, know what I mean?
Dexter: Actually, I do.
Dex VO: DNA, DNA, Come out and play!
Dex VO: The DNA matches. Is that my long-dormant conscience talking, or the Dark Passenger whispering?
Lila (1st conversation in coffeehouse): ... growing need, rising up until it's the only voice you hear, the only voice you want to hear, and you belong to it, to this shadow self, to this..
Dexter: Dark Passenger
Lila: .. Dark Passenger.
Dexter VO: She knows. She recognizes demons, Dark Passengers. Maybe the others do too. This program is too risky.
Dexter VO: Prints. Fibers. Trace evidence. I know they won't find anything. I followed all of Harry's painstaking preventative measures. He knew that nothing stays buried forever. His code will protect me. :pause: Still, I wish my own sister weren't hunting for me. It makes for an awkward family dynamic.
Dexter VO: When the manhunt is on, the hunted go shopping.
Dexter VO: I go to stalk a killer and I end up with a new car. How'd that happen?
Dexter VO: Even Roger's hair is a lie. I could learn a thing or two from this guy.
Dexter to Lundy: Hoping they'll talk to you?
Lundy: The ones with heads, anyway. They always speak, eventually. Just have to ask the right question.
Dex: Which is?
Lundy: Why were they chosen?
Dexter: That's the key, isn't it? (re lying) not to care about anyone or anything.
Roger: ... You made a beeline for the minivan, like you can see her there, in the passenger seat, kids in the back.
Dexter: Leave the kids out of it.
Roger: See? You're lying to yourself if you think you don't care.
Dexter: "I'm Dexter and I don't know what I am. [chorus: Hi Dexter!] I just know there's something dark in me. I hide it. Certainly I don't talk about it. But it's there. Always. This... Dark Passenger... and when he's driving, I feel alive, half-sick with the thrill, the complete wrongness. I don't fight him. I don't want to. He's all I've got. Nothing else could love me. Not even ... especially! not me. [pause] Or is that just a lie the Dark Passenger tells me? Because lately, there are these moments when I FEEL.... connected to something else, someone, and it's like, the mask is slipping and things, people, who never mattered before are starting to matter. It scares the hell out of me.
Angel: Why did the killer cut him up like this?
Matsuoka: For easy disposal
Deb: Or for fun! You don't kill this many people because it's a chore. You do it because you like it.
Dexter VO: I've always been good with parents. The key is to think of them as aliens from a distant universe. "You have fibers and threads unknown to us!" "Your ancient customs intrigue me!"
Rita's mother: So Dexter, tell me everything there is to know about you!
Dexter VO: "You have made me your sworn enemy, evil woman."
Dexter: I work in the .. etc.
Rita's mother: If what they say is true, that he only goes after criminals, then I say leave him alone. He's got my seal of approval.
Dexter VO: "Perhaps I have misjudged you, oh wise one."
Matsuoka: "... eurekeriotic algae."
Dexter VO: Okay, this is the first time I regret not being a bigger nerd.
Lila: Whatever you think you are, you don't have to BE that.
Dexter: That's where you are wrong.
Lila: Stop judging yourself! There are no absolutes. No one is all good or all evil.
Dexter: [bodily moving her]: You're just going to have to trust me on this.
Lila: [yanks at him, slams door] Jesus, Dexter, what are you so fucking scared of? You make yourself into a monster so you no longer have to bear responsibility for what you do. "I can't help it, I'm a monster." "Oh, of course I was going to do that, I'm a monster." It's sad, and it's pathetic, and it breaks my heart.
Deb: The Bay Harbor Butcher? If I had 1 shot, I'd put a bullet in that fucker's head.
Dexter: You really feel that way?
Deb: Yeah! He's killing people, Dex. If Dad taught us one thing, it's the value of human life.
Dexter VO: Yeah, but I think we had different homework assignments.
Dexter VO: I never really got the whole superhero thing, but lately, it does seem we have a lot in common: tragic beginnings, secret identities, part human/part mutant, arch enemies.
Man in store: Denny had this great idea to put a spin on that vigilant serial killer we got running around. "Stalker of the Night: His Blade of Vengeance Turns Wrong Into Right."
Dexter: Definitely has a nicer ring than the Bay Harbor Butcher.
Dexter VO: The Dark Defender [ponders poster} Nah. Miami's too hot for all that leather.
Dexter VO: This little green algae might as well be Kryptonite. If it's every traced back to me, I'll be helpless.
Lundy: There are ads on Craigslist and coffeeshop bulletin boards asking for the services of the Butcher. People think they have found their own personal Batman.
Lundy: I'm a fed. My suit proves it.
