I've got that squinty-eyed I'm-tired-so-what-if-it-was-a-three-day-weekend thing going on today.
I'd invited my mother and one of her neighbors, a retired architect, for brunch Monday. The architect offered, years ago, to give me her ideas for changes to make my house more roommate friendly. I remembered, just in time, that I'd invited other people. We had a blast. The 70+ year old and the 80+ year old had traveled with their husbands through Mexico and Central America for 9 and 6 months, respectively, back in the day. They described themselves as hippies at the time. Hehe! They both lived on this lake in Costa Rica and loved the same towns in Mexico. Fun stuff. The 70+ year is an artist who'd strapped 5 under 12-inch paintings to her bicycle and ridden over, her little dog trotting along beside her. We voted on which she should enter in the juried County Fair fine arts competition. My mother was quietly judgmental about having 2 dogs in the dining room while we ate; at least she was quiet about it. The dogs were well behaved! Anyway, it was a lot of fun.
Sat. and Sun: lap swimming is great. I really must lobby our city gov't again for a local pool south of the hill. Mill Valley has a wonderful facility (jazucci too!) but it's too far for me to use except on weekends.
