I tried to stay up and watch the season finale of Nip/Tuck last night, but was just too tired to stay up for most of the last hour, so I don't know who The Carver is yet. I am still scoffing at the idea that Christian would accept Kimber's disappearance so readily, and the conversation between the two of them in the hospital was such a device, I was surprised the actors could actually choke their lines out. As if that conversation is all it would take to get them back on track as a couple! Then again, this show has never been about verisimilitude; it's always been a jolly bouncing ball of weird plot contrivances. [Matt going from neo-Nazi to nice guy in two episodes, anyone?] Generally I like it and I thought I could overlook almost everything about this show, but that had me yelling at the TV. Speaking of verisimilitude, the big reveal about Quentin Costas? HOW are they going to explain that? I can't imagine anything realistic - how would it have gotten by the 4-way of Christian, Kimber, and Kit McGraw. Ah well, I'll find out tonight.

Meanwhile, I'm determined to read 50 books by the end of the year, or get damned close. The only way I can possibly do it is to read only young adult books for the next couple of weeks, combined with slacking off on clearing out content on the Tivo. Armed with printouts on award-winning AY books, and with the help of the YA librarian, I've checked out 9 YA books. I started The City of Ember at lunch today.

The Kite Runner continues to enchant me on books on tape. The author is The Perfect narrator to his material.
