Nov. 1st, 2009 07:45 pmSharon died on Thursday, at 3:15 PM. She joked in September about hanging on until Halloween, and then she'd haunt people. She almost made it. Samhain is several days, so technically, she did make it.
Sharon was tall, slender, elegant, and like to do stuff: hike, walk, swim, travel, read, frequent arts & crafts shows, sail. She was a veteran sailer, having crewed long enough in the Caribbean before she went to grad school in environmental studies to get a "six-pack" professional captain's license. Her family was extraordinarliy functional, or maybe it's just that so many of my friends come from crazy families, as I do. I l earned a lot from her in the ways of being normal and functional. She was my person to contact in case of an emergency, so in addition to losing a dear friend, I also feel kind of rootless, personally more vulnerable with a Sharon-pieced shape of the 'verse missing.
She had lots of friends who loved her, and she loved them, and she knew she was loved.
