More wild kingdom

Non-election posts: 

• S's 5th chemo went well yesterday. I was the point person for this one, and it was great to spend several hours afterward talking.
• My brother is in town to visit. I haven't seen him since 2000! He *drove* from Penna., hence,  has to leave on Thurs. Good grief.
• I found the 2nd lizard last weekend. It had fallen or crawled down a heating ducts eventually landing in the cold air return of the gas furnace, where I found its dessicated body. Poor thing. I cleaned the ducts, turned on the pilot, and now have heat. Yay! 
• The cat had 2 more emergency vet visits in the last week. 
• Met with the contractor about the wall this morning. Yay! 
• Work is frantically busy. Back to it.

When I was in grade school, my oldest sister spend her college summer break in the Deep South registering Negroes (the term then) to vote after passage of the Voting Rights Act. On several occasions, she and other colleagues were threatened and their keepers had to take swift action to keep them from bodily harm or worse. When she got home at the end of summer, she was a wreck. I clumped by outside her bedroom window one morning wearing barn boots and she woke up screaming in terror. I'm working now so I can take Wed. off to hang out with my brother visiting from PA, so am missing the mass cultural TV moment, but I know that right now, she and my bro are having a rollicking celebration at her house in Berkeley.  YAY OBAMA!!!  This is my country!  He did it! We did it!
