Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

My quiet holiday has turned out to be pretty busy, running around, doing stuff with family and friends. I get the Virtuous Employee of the Day award for coming to work today, errmph, to make up for running out early on Friday and barely getting anything done that day, so, not That Virtuous.

Best day so far -- going to the Smuin Christmas Ballet, followed by the Take your time: Olafur Eliasson exhibit at SF MOMA. It's FABULOUS. If you live anywhere near SF, you MUST GO. I don't want to say too much about it, and discourage you from reading reviews because discovering it was SO MUCH FUN!! except to say that if you have ever lived in snow country, OMG you will love it, and remember what it was like, and WOW this guy is AMAZING. He's Icelandic, which explains a lot. Also, the Ballet was So Much Fun, much more fun than a Nutcracker IMHO, you should all go next year.

What else? Two dinners at friends; a drop-in with the oldest sister (who gave me a quart of fabric wash for a Christmas prezzie. WTF? I gave her a fleece jacket.), nephew & his fiancee, who I realized looks a lot like a young Carly Simon; dog-walking and general hanging-out with neighbor friends; card playing; baking.

I'm petsitting a Russian Tortoise named Roger and I'm reading up about them. His life seems so boring, and some of the equipment he "came" with in his tortoise table, now taking up my extra bedrooom, are ridic. WHY is there a wood "jungle jim" in his crate? Seriously? How often do you see tortoises swinging around in tangles of branches? @@ So, I have been madly printing out tortoise info.

I haven't actually been home enough to see if I can get wireless yet, although I did plop on the couch and read some threadsucked threads yesterday on the loaner work computer. It was fun for awhile. (I can't believe I used to print out and read everything and feel so much a part of it because of it) Ah well.

Happy New Year! I'm off to SF for some late shopping.  Best, MakaiDiver
