Good days / bad days
Oct. 24th, 2007 01:01 amThe good: 4 of us old girlfriends got together Sat. AM and went kayaking on Corte Madera Creek. There is a long row of arcs (houses over water on stilts [short ones, in this case]) accessible only by boardwalk over the pickleweed marsh across from the ferry . J lives there, and has 4 boats/kayaks. We paddled under 101 and up the creek. FUN. Instead of leaving for lunch, as planned, we found a Puerto Rican restaurant who delivered scrumptious chicken, rice & peas & plantain, & flan to us (1/3 mile walk down the boardwalk!). We lolled around in the sun, talking and eating. Like Stinson Beach, it's so close yet feels like an entirely different world, a little vacation away. So much fun. Saw a kingfisher, heard clapper rails, enjoyed S, the wildlife biologist, talking about all the birds lighting on the boardwalk railing, marsh ecology, etc. Good stuff.
Then, pretty good play at Berk Rep, though I nodded off again. I can't seem to stay awake for any plays the last few years. I'm an old bat, I guess. Java required a trip to the emergency vet after the play. The neighbor's cat attacked him again. It couldn't wait until Monday, no vet is open Sun. anyway, and I was already up, so. He has lumps, shaved bits, is on antibiotics and very, very unhappy with me about his treatment. Silly cat.
