Updatey

I haven't felt much like writing here until just  now. I've had Aha! moments in the last 6 monthsabout my relationship with my sisters, one just now. For the first time in, like, EVER, I have some distance on a sister's behaviour that always really yanks my chain. It's weird, and gratifying, and calming, to sit back a little and say to myself, "I tell you what, she's got a narrow perspective going there, and I don't have to buy into it, or argue with her on that particular field." I figured out what to say that's succinct,  true for me, and doesn't denigrate her point of view, and said it. It feels really, really good.

I'll see how long that lasts! Heaven knows it's certainly easy to fall back into patterns.

In real news, there was a big fire in my hometown on a hill across our little downtown from the hill where I live. Lots of fire, but no houses burned, nor anyone injured. YAY. The lovely girl_sleuth is crashing at my house while attending a conference, and we walked into town for dinner that night, stopping to  linger at various corners where residents gathered to watch and talk. We saw a eucalyptus tree catch fire and explode, shooting flames up 40-50 feet. OMG Holy Cow it was spectacular and scary and WHOA cut those things down STAT. A helicopter came along as it was solar-flaring atop the hill against alpineglow and ::splat:: put it out with a dump of water. Amazing stuff.

In work news, it's fiscal year end and OMG it is so freaking busy. ARGHH.

The bite on my arm is just a spider bite, it turns out, though it did so many weird things last night, like flash pink/white repeatedly, and pulse bulls' eyes a couple of times, that I called my doc this AM and they had me come in to look at it. Did you know that a tick has to have its head in you swapping fluids for 24-36 hours for there to be a risk of Lyme's Disease? I did not know that; I thought a mere bite was all it took. Good to know. Lyme-free, YAY!
