Week in review
Mar. 22nd, 2007 07:09 pmI drove around with my Keen clogs on top of my car almost ALL WEEK. I've been looking for them since Sunday! The luggage rack bars kept them from falling off, hooray. I've got a 50-mile commute via 5 major freeways every day! Too funny. It's a good thing I parked my car in front of my front steps, instead of the driveway, to unload a case of Pellegrino, or I'd still be looking for them.
Six Feet Under. SIGH. I couldn't wait for the last 3 episodes of the series to air, so rented the DVDs, got pizza and beer, gorged myself on good tv & food & alcohol, and cried and cried over the major character's death. I *love* the way they ended the show, the last shots. Wow, so appropriate and just, the best series ending episode I've ever seen.
I picked up Ben's ashes yesterday, and took flowers to the mother of a friend this morning. Her husband/my friend's father died a few days ago. My friend's father-in-law also just died. Oh boy. They had the funeral for him last weekend, complete with the Green Street Marching Band in SF's Chinatown, and flew to Hawaii Monday AM for the big anniversary shin-dig yesterday that I had to cancel attending. I've been trying to take time off work and have been leaving early, but I am so behind, it's ridiculous. I should care a lot more than I do, sadly.
My mother and Shoopette are hanging in there. Shoop threw up sometime yesterday - found it this AM - which alarms me. The thing with having had her and Ben and Java is that I never was really sure who was doing what. With Ben gone, it's clear what Shoo is doing. She is so cuddly and sweet. I will really miss her and am appreciating her so very much in what I know are our last days, months together. I'm hoping I have another year with her, but who knows. Mom, I'm counting on her reaching 96 or 97, at least.
Finished running the American Cancer society fundraiser in our bldg. We did well, and there are daffodils all over the place, which, it turns out, I'm kind of allergic to. Heh heh. I keep moving my vases of flowers down the hall. Blood drive to run next week.
My sister is visiting San Miguel Allende with friends. That is one place I would really like to visit; any of the colonial Mexican cities will do.
