Dec. 11th, 2006 09:28 pmBelated Happy Birthday, cofax7!
I've been gone from LJ for what turns out to be only 3 months, showing me again how completely obsessed I can be/have been with LJ. Ah well. Heroes has much of my obsession these days. Heroes, and The Office, and Prison Break, and Veronica Mars, and ... it goes on and on.
I'm back from a week in Mexico. I'm glad to be home, but not so overjoyed to be back at work. I'd signed myself out for a 1/2 day today, which was a good call, but I'm dragging my feet on tackling The Stack. Can I really say it took me 4 hours just to read my email? SIGH. I guess not. It only took 3 hrs. I'll stay late.
Some ex-pats in Sayulita asked if I was considering moving there, or when I'd be back to visit my sister. I don't know, I told them, I only get so much vacation time every year, and there are other places to see and things to do, too. Oh, you're still WORKING?!! + a pitying look = not helpful. I'm officially jealous of everyone who is retired already.
I had Great Plans for a play-hard holiday, but the ocean was really rough at the start of the week, so I didn't swim as much as I planned, nor any other get-up-at-the-crack-of-dawn exertions. Instead, I caught up on sleep, read a lot (Troost's The Sex Lives of Cannibals [ex-pats on Kiribati]; and Gringos in Paradise [ex-pats in Sayulita] were favorites) and hung out with the family. Our 91-year old mother's willingness to make the trek prompted the trip. She's a spry trooper who made it from the ground floor to the 4th floor rooftop mirador several times, into the edge of the ocean once, and various other places of short walking duration. I don't expect she'll be back. The new 3rd floor is gorgeous, as is the rooftop mirador with views of the ocean and the mountains. . A yoga instructor was staying across the street, so we had morning yoga classes on the roof. Fun. She's renting the entire place for a weeklong yoga retreat in March.
