Paved paradise and put up a parking lot
Aug. 30th, 2006 09:10 pmWork is still crazy busy and I should be doing some of it now, but here I am. LJ is much more fun. I've woken up 1-15 minutes in the middle of the night a few days per week for the last month or two worrying about various things I've not been able to get to, and keep telling myself I should come in on a weekend, but... I haven't and don't really want to. Obviously. Still, ARGGH, in general. I'm in an Access class all day tomorrow and hope nothing hits the fan while I'm in the city.
I created a long wishlist at Deep Discount DVD; it would be so much fun to get them - but, instead, I'll be using the money for vets. I'm convinced the 18-year old cats are healthy enough to withstand dental work. They'll have a better chance living for 2+ more years if their mouths aren't rotting. Too bad cats' teeth aren't as easy to take care of as a dog's. I used to clean my collie's teeth the way we learned in 4-H dog training - with Bon Ami and Q-tips.
The owners of the land/mineral rights at our office building cut down 14 trees in the back parking lot, jackhammered out the pushouts where they were growing, tore out the irrigation, and paved over it all. We've heard they gained TWO more parking spaces. I'm SO disgusted. At least they left 4 trees, removed a plastic bag caught in the top of a surviving tree after I asked them to, and didn't disturb the nesting mourning doves on top of the security camera, which presence I made sure they knew about. This winter, I'll plant fortnight lilies near the remaining the trees some weekend or another.
