Aug. 3rd, 2006 08:32 pmThe Actors Studio/James Lipton interview of Hugh Laurie finally aired. Tivo tricked me several months ago by offering it, then changing it to someone else, but it stuck this time. I've heard of Black Adder but never sought out info about it, and it was interesting to see him in a smart ass funny young chap role. In person, he tossed off quips and asides with mannerisms that I expect from, say, Hugh Grant, except, Hugh Laurie is so identified with Gregory House in my mind, it made me stare, not laugh. It was interesting to hear about his background, just 'cause I find stuff like that interesting. His father was a doctor and an Olympic medalist in rowing. His family had money and he went to exclusive and expensive private schools and college. His mother disapproved of his marriage and the circumstances of his child's (son, I think) birth, but he didn't elaborate so now I'm curious. One of the students brought up the potential for House's having relationships with Cameron, Cuddy, and Wilson, and pointed out how much Internet space has been dedicated to House/Wilson. HL said that in his opinion, he'd be game, if the show lasted that long, to work his way through all those relationships. Then he wondered what Robert would have to say about it. Interesting interview. Will have to watch again for the fun of it before deleting.
