I found something that works really well as a wet umbrella (or rainbrella, as the son of a friend calls them) holder: a box that was used to transport a vase of flowers. It's a flatish box with a hole on the top and kind of sunburst cuts around the hole. The rainbrella is held upright, the better to prevent it flopping about and dripping rain on the mat behind the passenger seat, whence the mat might molder and stink. Rain drips into the box and on sunny days, it's easily relocated to the dashboard for a day to completely dry out.

I've had the most useless week at work. Ugh. I got a few things done, but really need a major injection of motivation. After returning from Mexico, well, I just want to be retired already. Unfortunately, wishing doesn't make it so.

Finally remembered to bring some CDs up to my work desk because I finally have speakers and can listen to music at my desk. Yay!

I'm almost done with Kite Runner, one of my 3 favorite books read this year. The other 2 are: Never Let Me Go, and The Life of Pi. I'm also reading Lisa33, which is a hoot. It's a novel about relationships in cyberspace and it's worth it just to read the first chapter, wherein the cross-posting of 2 people having chatroom sex while others in the room talk around them, often interrupting them, is hilarious.

Happy New Year, all.
