Aug. 10th, 2005 06:56 pmSomething smelled awful near the side deck Mon. night. Oh no! another dead animal under the deck? I wasn't looking forward to hiring a carpenter to cut a piece out, then make a patch, just so I could get to a carcass. Once was enough. Then, uh-oh, what's that dripping off the cat? is that smell coming from him?? Poor Java had a bite I hadn't see and WHOA did it fester. ICK. He'll be fine but I'll have to cancel part of my vacation next week. I can't saddle S with this for more than 1 day, 1 night. /pinching diamond shoes.
His drive to clean it up was, still is, impressive. He tried to lick what I used to clean him up that night as it passed by him on the way into a plastic bag. With a pungent smell like that, he'd be someone's dinner fast if he couldn't clean it up. Were he wild, this would have been the end of him. It's between his shoulder blades and he can't reach it.

A tree next to the road around B. Lagoon was full of turkey vultures the last time I was out that way. Wow they're big birds.
