Sister's birthday party went well and all seemed to have a really good time, especially her, which, being the point, is v.v. good. The friends who were going to spend Palm Springs time with me but couldn't do both drove up early Sunday and arrived right as the party was starting. It was great to see them.

This is the sis who was in a car accident that entailed driving over a cliff in the Colorado mountains, breaking her back, and crawling up to the road afterwards. She's having horrible back pain again, because she'll find something that works for the pain, then does either actual or the equivalent of heavy construction (moving rock walls, etc.) and screws it up again. Cluesticks are not working. Oy. Not being able to sit up without pain isn't doing it. The adrenaline of having the party at her house compelled her to go out and do yard work the morning of, despite everything. Is there a clue-anvil? She needs it. She had to stand or lie down through her own party.

I've been doing stuff for this sister for the last month: getting her car fixed, helping with her legal stuff, getting locksmiths out at her place, party planning and implementation. Seems like there's something else I need to turn my attention to soon. Something about a major holiday in December? Yeah.

Yummy easy recipe

For mascarpone fans, like cashmerepett and serenada, and pomegranate fans, like stephL:

Ingredients:
Medjool dates
mascarpone cheese
pomegranate seeds

Slice dates, remove pit. You can either slice them into 2 separate pieces or just slice open the date.
With a knife or spoon, insert mascarpone cheese into or on top of date
top with pomegranate seeds

Eat. It's a wonderful combo of sweet, tart, creamy and is very pretty, 'specially if you sprinkle some pomegranate seeds on the serving plate, too. Yum!
