I'm back at work after 3 hours of drinking fine local micro-brewed IPA and carousing with co-workers on the happy departure of a much-liked co-worker to greener pastures. Three of us caught the 7:44 train back to work; I'm leaving for
this in four days. One person is giving a presentation in a couple of days. The other is taking tomorrow off. Someone in the art dept. told me about a good raucous radio station so I've got my radio blasting, the good dark chocolate nearby. Ummm, IPA; ummm, long discussions about travel, fun and unusual intoxicating substances, and a smattering of new gossip about co-workers not there. Totally fun.
I asked HR to hire a clerical temp while I'm gone, someone who can do the loose-leaf book filing that makes me crazy. They hired a freaking LIBRARIAN, with an MLS from U. of Wash., scads of programming experience. WTF? What part of "scut work" was unclear? Jobs can't be that dear, can they?
Okay, am forcing myself to work now. Honest.
