I'm so sad about spring ending this year. We're pretty much into full blown summer now. The fog hasn't started rolling in every night, but it will, soon. Every year, summer rolls in and all our lovely green grass dries up and rattles gold on the hills all summer and fall. It's the opposite of what I grew up with on the East Coast, where it's brown, then white, then brown and dreary all winter and early spring. On the East Coast, spring and summer are the green times. Out here, it's only green Nov. - April or May.
It seems like summner has come earlier than usual this year. It gives me a bad feeling - the risk of fires is increased if I'm right. This year, losing the green feels like a loss, not just an inevitable part of the climate cycle in Northern Calif. It makes me wonder if, when I probably inevitably have to sell my house to afford to retire, I'd be happier living farther up the coast, where there's more rainfall.
Not related (well, maybe a little): if a plastic surgeon or dermatologist ever offers to burn off (with liquid nitrogen) little benign skin cancer spots on your face, say no and make them cut them off. They tell you that the burned spots will be sensitive to sun. They don't tell you that they are white spots sensitive to the sun FOREVER and that you are likely to end up with dark, dark spots if you ever, for a minute, go outdoors without SPF 100 on them. Fricking fracking plastic surgeons.
