Mar. 7th, 2004 06:31 pm3.5 hour hike today. I'm doing a 10.5 mile walk during the Big Sur Marathon in a month. I really need to do some sort of training. Also, make a hotel reservation.
It's early summer here: blue skies, sunny, in the 70's, and green grass. I love this time of year, when we have green grass. It'll all be gold so soon. Several huge trees fell over on Concrete Pipe trail, and lower Madrone doesn't have any madrone left on it. They must've all gotten the oak disease, because almost all of them have fallen over. Tan bark oak are taking over the niche. There are still madrone swaths at the top of the hill. I flushed 2 huge wild turkeys and several deer on the trail. Sorry to disturb! but I love it when I pick trails where other humans are not around.
Back at the lot, at the end, I ran into PC, the guy for whom I left HS lo so many years ago. It's the first time I've seen him in about 10 years! It was great to talk to him, and catch up on all the members of his family, and vice versa. He's so positive. I miss that. I asked him for a pep talk. He's the best at doing that.
