Happy Discovery!

Looking up one thing led to another, and another, leading to my stumbling onto a new [to me] recap site, Fandomtalk. http://www.fandomtalk.com/ Happy, happy day! If I miss a show, my usual recourse is to find a recap. I usually google for a couple of options and get my fix by reading a couple of them. TWOP has been a staple, but I don't really like their recaps. I hate clicking to a new page, hate how many pages they are (should a recap take nearly as long to read as it takes to watch the show?), and (burying the lead here) I don't come away feeling like I've gotten the essence of the show, exactly. I may have been amused, or annoyed, by the recapper's personal observations, but I'm really there to find out about the show, so.
Here's a clip from fandomtalk's FAQs:
Aren't you just a Television Without Pity rip-off?
Well, yeah, sort of. Like TWOP, we have a multi-fandom forum and we offer recaps for several TV shows. We're not re-inventing the wheel here. Many of us on staff enjoy TWOP and recognize it as one of the leaders in the field of humor-based pop culture websites. We think we're a little different because we emphasize the "fan" part of our name while TWOP emphasizes the "without pity" part of their name but, generally speaking, we know we're following in their footsteps. We have no desire to be as big, popular or influential as TWOP has become. All we hope for is that people give us a chance and enjoy what we're doing.
I do! I enjoy it very much! I missed the finale of Grey's Anatomy, what with the whole trip to Mexico 'n' all, and, despite reading TWOP's and getting some friends to recap it their words, fandom talk's recap is the first I've felt like I "saw" the episode. Here's a comparison of the two, of an innocuous scene from GA's finale. It's a pretty good demo of how the two are different:
TWOP:
Cut to the Promlets discussing the prom theme with Alex and George. George is taking notes like he's studying to do a thoracotomy instead of painting a party pic backdrop. Cristina comments to Mere that she didn't like teenage girls when she was a teenage girl. Mere says prom wasn't really her thing; she had pink hair and black clothes, which I find very hard to believe, since, as Keckler noted to me earlier, she's obviously a total head cheerleader type. Probably a stupid flyer, too, as tiny as she is. Cristina confesses that her mom made her go, and her date threw up on her dress and tried to feel her up. That must be a common theme, because it also happened to me. Suck it, Homecoming 1989.
Fandom Talk:
Alex and George talk prom themes with Claire and Natalie in a conference room. Cristina and Meredith watch from outside, leading Cristina to observe, "I didn't like teenage girls when I was a teenage girl." Why does that not surprise me? "I wore a lot of black. Had the whole angry pink hair thing going on. I wouldn't have been caught dead at a prom," Meredith explains. Again, no surprises there.
The first? I really don't care about Keckler or the recapper. The second? I believe the scene is described as it was filmed and shown, and I worship that they quote dialogue. Dialogue was quoted often in the GA finale, especially in the Big Scenes. HALLELUJAH! I'd much rather read what was written/shown in an ep than someone else's snarky interpretation.
So that's my post for today. Oh, and perhaps my friends who were XF fans will enjoy this snippet from the GA recapper's bio: Diana_Lesky is...not her real name. It's an obscure X-Files reference, and you win brownie points with her if you can tell her where it comes from.
